Pacific Radiology new Southern district breast screening provider
In October 2013, the Southern District Health Board (DHB) announced it would not seek renewal of its BreastScreen HealthCare contract for services in the Southern district, a decision supported by the National Screening Unit (NSU).
The NSU undertook an open tender process to identify a new provider capable of meeting BreastScreen Aotearoa’s requirements for a high-quality, sustainable breast screening service for women in the Southern district. The tender process was reviewed by a panel of internal and external experts.
Eligible women in Otago and Southland will continue to have access to free breast screening services. The NSU, Southern DHB and PRG are working closely to ensure a smooth transition to the new service.
