Reminder about timing of bloods for antenatal screening for Down syndrome and other conditions

The timing of bloods can affect the quality of the risk calculation.
There is good evidence that the timing of bloods and nuchal translucency can affect the quality of the risk calculation.

The graph below shows the timing of blood and nuchal translucency for combined first trimester screening for January to March 2013.

The graph below shows the ideal timing of blood and nuchal translucency for combined first trimester screening. This shows that the ideal time for blood collection is 9-10 weeks and for the nuchal translucency scan to be performed at 12 weeks.
