Nominations Sought for the National Screening Advisory Committee

The National Screening Advisory Committee (NSAC) currently has two vacancies.

NSAC is looking for potential members who have expertise and/or experience in one or more of the following areas:

• cancer screening
• Māori general practice
• technological assessment
• health of young people.

Potential members would be expected to have:

• an understanding of the social and policy issues relating to screening
• an understanding of the health sector and machinery of government
• a knowledge of the responsibilities and obligations of a committee member 
• a track record of working constructively in multi-disciplinary groups
• critical appraisal skills
• excellent communication skills
• excellent judgement
• an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi.

New members are likely to have a history of involvement in the health system and/or screening programmes. 

NSAC provides advice to the Director-General of Health on screening research, policy and practice.  Members are appointed by the Director-General for a term of up to three years.

Application forms and supporting documentation will be provided to NSAC for short-listing.  Short-listed candidates will be referred to the Director-General of Health for consideration.
