NCSP Review 2011

Legislation requires regular, independent reviews of the NCSP to be undertaken, and a review is taking place in the first half of 2011.

The purpose of the review is to ensure the NCSP is of the highest possible quality, and continues to reduce rates of cervical cancer, and the number of women who die from it.

The following review committee members have been appointed by the Associate Minister of Health, Hon Tariana Turia:

  • Dr Jeffrey Tan (Chair), who offers clinical expertise and research in obstetrics, gynaecology and colposcopy
  • Ms Linda Thompson, who offers extensive experience in Māori health, nursing and health management
  • Dr Roberta Howlett who offers expertise in cancer screening and research.

The review is expected to be completed by the end of June 2011 and the committee’s report will be made publically available after it has been tabled in Parliament.
