Getting your results
Great, you’ve had your mammogram – and now you’re waiting to hear your results. We’ll send them out to you within 3 weeks, and to your doctor (unless you ask us not to). This helps your doctor stay up to date with your health.
Please phone us on 0800 270 200 if you haven’t heard from us within 3 weeks. It can be a nervous wait, but remember that most women get an ‘all clear’ to return for their next mammogram in 2 years.
If you’re asked for another assessment
If anything out of the ordinary shows up on your mammogram, you will be asked to come back in for another free assessment.
In most cases, you won’t have breast cancer, but your radiologist (a doctor who specialises in reading mammograms) will need to take a closer look at what was found. They may also need to take a biopsy.
Find out more about going to your assessment and having your biopsy.
Remember, most women who are asked to come back in for assessment do not have breast cancer
If your assessment shows you have breast cancer, we’ll help you choose a specialist, who will provide advice and treatment. Find out more in the treatment section.
