Guidelines for Maternity Providers offering antenatal HIV screening in New Zealand

These guidelines for best practice are to support maternity providers in delivering a consistently effective Antenatal Screening Programme for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).  Consumer pamphlets for the Antenatal HIV Screening Programme are available nationally for pregnant women. However, some women may want more detailed information about screening, particularly about what happens after receiving an inconclusive or positive HIV result. These guidelines support practitioners to provide this information and to be aware of national policy within the screening programme.
