These resources are for health providers who provide services within the antenatal and newborn screening initiatives managed by the National Screening Unit. They contain the background education and programme information about screening health practitioners are required to provide to women, their partners, family and whanau during pregnancy and in the early postpartum period.

These modules have been approved by the Midwifery Council of New Zealand for 5 professional development points per module.

These modules have been endorsed by the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP) and approved for up to 2 hours (per module) CME for General Practice Educational Programme Stage 2 (formerly AVE) and Maintenance of Professional Standards (MOPS) purposes.

Health Practitioners, please ensure that you include your midwifery council / medical council number when you set up your login details.
Midwives are required to enter their Midwifery Council number for the allocation of professional development points.
There are five education modules. Two modules (Screening Principles and QIASD) are available for completion from December 14, with AHIV and UNHSEIP from December 21. NMSP will be available following the publication of programme guidelines in early 2010.

2. Quality Improvements in Screening for Down syndrome and other conditions (QIASD)
3. Antenatal HIV Screening Programme (AHIV)
4. Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Early Intervention Programme (UNHSEIP)
5. Newborn Metabolic Screening Programme (NMSP)
Please note: The QIASD module includes the information you will need to offer the new screening options to women. These screening options however will not be available until February 8 2010.
